WBB v BUCKLAND ATHLETIC
U8 Rooney, Sunday November 15 2009
WBB...5
Buckland Athletic...4
Buckland suffered their first defeat in the league in a thrilling encounter at WBB.
The home side took the lead with a fine solo goal capped with a curling shot which gave glovesman Evan no chance.
But Buckland were back on terms when Mason won a loose ball on the edge of the box and rifled in a ferocious dipping effort, the kind of strike more usually associated with superstars of world football like Torres, Ronaldo and Jimmy Bullard.
For the second week in succession, Mason's corner delivery resulted in another goal - this time Harry powering in a well-directed header after making a clever near-post run.
A sustained period of Buckland pressure resulted in a third goal when Georgia held off two defenders before playing a great ball to Beck, who slammed the ball into the roof of the net to give the visitors a 3-1 lead.
But Wattsy's fought back with two well-taken goals to level the scores at 3-3 despite Buckland having the majority of possession.
All of Buckland's players were seeing plenty of action as manager Wayne rotated the squad to good effect. Declan and Jamie were dealing with the difficult conditions well, Josh took over between the sticks after going close in attack, while Adam was causing problems up front.
Joey saw his effort saved after stealing the ball with some great footwork, but Beck finally restored Buckland's lead with another excellent goal, beating the keeper at the near post with a shot that was too hot to handle.
But despite sustained pressure which saw Harry, Joey and Mason all go close, it was WBB who first levelled then took the honours with a late goal, a great strike right into the corner that just evaded Josh's beave dive.
Buckland never gave up trying to play their passing game despite the knee-high grass and more than played their part in an excellent encounter against a good WBB side.

BUCKLAND ATHLETIC v IPPLEPEN
U8 Rooney, Sunday November 8 2009
Buckland Athletic...3
Ipplepen...1
Buckland maintained their unbeaten league record against a competitive Ipplepen team who held a 1-0 lead at the break.
The visitors had taken the lead shortly before half-time despite lots of Buckland pressure, Evan having no chance with the snap-shot.
Beck almost opened the scoring after a great passing move but his powerful shot flew inches over.
Both Harry and Joey were denied what would have been fine solo efforts by Ipplepen's talented goalkeeper.
The home side were passing the ball really well and were unfortunate to be behind.
Buckland were back on level terms soon after the break when Adam notched from one of Mason's trademark corners, scoring the team's first headed goal at the back stick.
Declan's long-range strike then gave Buckland the lead, firing home from near the halfway line - his goal means all of the team's outfield players have now been on the scoresheet.
With Harry and Georgia pulling strings in midfield, and Jamie and Josh attacking down the flanks, Buckland were in control, Declan and Jamie snuffing out any threat from the visitors and playing the ball out from the back.
Adam gave Buckland a deserved third, running into the box to fire home with a low drive.
A special word for referee Paul, who successfully managed to blow the whistle at the start and end of each half.

NEWTON TOWN v BUCKLAND ATHLETIC
Friendly, Coach Road, Sunday October 11
Newton Town U8...1
Buckland Athletic U8...7
Buckland came from behind to take the honours in an entertaining friendly at Coach Road.
Town took the lead with a well-worked goal that gave goalkeeper Evan no chance and had chances to increase their advantage. Buckland were being penned in their own half and only a fine stop from Evan, rushing off his line, and Harry's brave block kept the visitors in touch.
The equaliser finally came from Georgia with a long-range strike which foxed the Town keeper and went in off a post.
Once on level terms, Buckland took control of the game. Josh was desperately unlucky not to give his side the lead, being denied on three times in as many minutes.
The breakthrough came from a free-kick when Georgia was brought down on the edge of the box. Mason fired in a thunderbolt which went over the wall, past the keeper and into the roof of the net for another spectacular goal.
Beck made it 3-1 with another great finish into the top corner which gave the Town glovesman no chance.
Town were still posing a threat but Declan and Jamie were both in great form at the back, and Buckland went further in front when Georgia bagged her second of the day with a fabulous curling right-foot effort.
With Brad tackling hard in midfield and Adam looking confident between the posts after taking over goalkeeping duties, Buckland stretched their lead through Josh after a sumptious passing move.
Joey brought the ball out of defence and found Beck, who played the ball out to Mason on the right wing. Mason drove in a cross to the far post where Josh timed his run to perfection to steer the ball home.
Captain for the day Harry made it 6-1 with a fine solo effort, drifting infield from the right before drilling a low, hard left-foot effort past the Town keeper, and Beck completed the scoring when he seized on a rebound from Harry's shot and rifled the ball into the roof of the net to make the final score 7-1.

BUCKLAND ATHLETIC v WBB
Pioneer League U8 Rooney
Sunday October 4, 2009
Buckland...4 WBB...2
Buckland maintained their unbeaten start to the league season with a deserved win over WBB at Homers Heath.
With Mason and Georgia unavailable, Adam and Josh came into the squad to make their first league appearances.
Buckland took an early lead when Joey latched on to Harry's pass to find the corner of the net with the outside of his right foot, but Wattsy's were on level terms soon afterwards.
Adam restored Buckland's lead after the break, creating an opening for himself before drilling home to mark his debut in style.
WBB levelled again from a free-kick, then weathered Buckland's onslaught for much of the second half. The visitors even had a couple of chances on the break but goalkeeper Evan made two smart saves and rock-solid defensive duo Jamie and Declan kept a lid on any danger.
Beck almost restored the lead after a great run and shot from the right flank, and the deadlock was broken when Harry latched onto a loose ball to slam a scorcher into the top corner to put Buckland 3-2 in front.
Buckland added a deserved fourth when Harry's through-ball split the defence and substitute Josh finished in style to cap an impressive debut.
